First sketch of 2011

First sketch of 2011

I got a new Moleskine, my first authentic one, at the beginning of this year and oh man do I love it. The paper quality is amazing and it’s already taken a beating without much wear and tear, so I hope to get a lot of use out of it.

I’ve resolved to draw something everyday this year, and I’ll be using this book to keep that promise while getting out some of the crap that runs through my head. I might even put together a sketchbook of all of them once the year’s out, who knows.

Senryu – $2 Digital Edition now available

Senryu – $2 Digital Edition now available

With direct-to-consumer digital downloads all the rage I thought I’d jump into the fray and offer up Senryu in a special digital collected-edition for anyone who likes to read comics on their iPad, iPhone, laptop or other PDF e-reader of choice.

That’s right kiddies, you can now get a beautiful high resolution digital copy Senryu, complete with extras for only $2.

The time seems right and with more creators offering up their work directly to their fans and consumers I thought it would be a good experiment to release Senryu this way and see what happened.

One of the main goals of our comic studio for 2011 is to have more of an impact in the digital world, and this will serve as somewhat of a test bed for that process.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

Staple! and Joanne Foxtrot

Staple! and Joanne Foxtrot

Staple! is one of my favorite comic-cons to attend. It’s local (a quick hop to Austin) and it’s always packed with awesome indie creators and fan willing to try new things. Plus it actually focuses on comics, and not the mass entertainment/movie/video game tie-ins that so many are in the business for these days. The entire Space-Gun crew will be in ustin this March for the

Fellow Space-Gunner Paul Milligan an I decided to do a  short for inclusion in this years Staple! program book. It’s based on a rough concept by Jake Ekiss (another studio member) that proposed a series of shorts about the future’s hottest, toughest, space-fighting women. Think 50’s pinups and bomber art meet pulp adventure and futuristic sci-fi.  So everything I love about comics and sci-fi basically.

Words and inks by me, with sweet-ass pencils by Paul.

These pages are unlettered, so be sure and come down to Staple! and pick up the program book if you want to get your introduction to our new heroine Joanne Foxtrot. They’ll be plenty more of her to come as 2011 rolls along.

Staple! is March 5th and 6th at the Marchesa Hall and Theater in Austin, TX. Go here for more info.
